For weeks I poured over literature and statistics about the swine flu and the vaccine contemplating whether or not to get Haven vaccinated. During that time I saw Influenza A infiltrate one of our playgroups and have listened to horror stories of friends of friends getting sick with the H1N1 flu and dying. Luckily for us, our area health department has the vaccines in stock and even posts up to date information about vaccine counts at each of their locations so you know before you go if you have a chance of getting lucky.
So, today we checked the website and waltzed in around noon to get Haven her first of two H1N1 vaccines*. I was armed with milk, juice, crackers, a couple of favorite toys and books…ready for battle. But the total process, including filling out the required forms and the fifteen minute wait time following vaccination, took approximately forty minutes. Haven was a trooper. Just a little crying and then it was all over. I am hoping that round two is as uncomplicated as round one.

*Because of her age, they split the dose into two parts and we will have to go back in four weeks for her second dose.
Awww poor little lady! Glad to hear things went well though.
