I don’t know about you, but for me, it took me a very long time to learn how to drive a manual transmission. Over several years I practiced in a variety of vehicles, in a variety of locations (including the Virginia Tech commuter lot), with a lot of men (yes, Matt included). My final instructor, Stefan, had has the patience of a saint and was kind brave enough to be a passenger as I was honing my double clutching technique. Okay, so I never grasped the whole double clutching thing, but in the end I learned to drive stick shift. Stefan also is to blame credit for egging encouraging Matt to take up autocrossing, which lead to track events and eventually Spec Miata racing. We won’t mention the whole stint in Wisconsin where Matt bought one two beater Saab 900s, because we know Stefan is a closet Volvo lover. Finally, our acceptance speech wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t thank Stefan for forcing us introducing us to Formula One and the United States Grand Prix, where for several years we gathered to camp fitfully peacefully in the Coke Lot to the LOUD BASS lovely sounds of Drinkopolis.
In Stefan’s honor, I am posting this video of Stefan getting hit racing this past weekend. We are currently working with Jacque Villeneuve‘s manager to have a song produced just for Stefan. We think a country song would be fitting. After all, the Sonett done got hit.
