weekend wrapup : 8th wedding anniversary edition

Our anniversary party this year went off without a hitch.  No way were we going to let a backyard full of mosquitoes dampen our spirits.  The house was full of kids, including five little ones Haven’s age, all born within a month of each other.  They were more entertaining than if we had hired a mariachi band…or magician.  Hot dogs with a slew of condiments were served and we are considering serving hot dogs every year from here on out.  Okay, we are probably going to alternate between hot dogs and tacos/taco salad.  The best part of the night?  Being able to crawl into bed at a decent hour.  Yeah, we are that old.

On Sunday, while Haven was napping, we packed up the party supplies, swept and mopped the floor and Matt caught up on some work tasks.  Sunday afternoon we skedaddled off to the local pool for a quick dip to cool off.  How we have lived here two years and not known there was a pool RIGHT DOWN THE ROAD from us (WITH a kiddie pool AND just $2 admission!), I will never know.  Next year we will discover there’s an amusement park in the neighbor’s yard.  An in-house date night finished off the weekend.  Steamed shrimp for dinner and a movie after H was in bed.

Thanks to everyone who made our party so special…and for all the lovely gifts.  And, whoever left the sippy cup, let me know so I can return it.  Unless you intended to leave it as a gift.  Then, well, let me know who you are so I can write you a thank you letter.
