take a guess tuesday : week fourteen

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

We’ve just returned from Las Vegas, Nevada.  While in Sin City, we roughly estimated we walked how many miles?  (Note:  this is just a guess on our part, we have no statistical data to back up our estimate, but here’s the facts.  We stayed at the Mirage, walked to The Forum Shops at Caesar’s..twice, into Caesar’s Palace, The Bellagio, Monte Carlo, New York-New York, over to the MGM Grand, into GameWorks and M&M World, through Planet Hollywood and the Miracle Mile shops, then to Harrah’s, Paris, Bally’s, the Flamingo, O’Shea’s, Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall and Casino, finishing it off at the Venetian.  Dinner excursions to the Flamingo and Bouchon at the Venetian.)

a. 0-5 miles
b. 5-10 miles
c. 10-15 miles
d. 15-20 miles

And, in true Vegas style, you get a free spin question this week!

Which of the following casinos were our favorites?

a. The Bellagio
b. Caesar’s Palace
c. The Venetian
d. Paris
e. Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall and Saloon
f. New York-New York
g. MGM Grand
h. Mirage

round and round and round we go!

Where we stop? Nobody knows!?! Or, will we stop? Where am I? I’m feeling…a bit…dizzy….

I’ve just returned from a glorious trip to balmy South Carolina visiting Gwen, where it was 81 degrees on Tuesday, and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed wearing flip flops and summer clothes in December. Not to mention, sleeping with the windows open.

I would love to report on what all was accomplished and show you our handiwork, but we have handed over many of our projects so that Santa can deliver them on Christmas day. Those that we started, but haven’t finished are being worked on by little elves in Santa’s workshop. So, you will just have to be patient and wait.

In the meantime, I need to learn how to blog in shorthand. Actually, I need to take a class on how to do the holidays…shorthand style. I’ll be a star pupil. Surely, the community college offers such a class.

I’m just a day late here.  Give me a break!  It’s the holidays.

I am hopelessly addicted to magazines and catalogs. In the past I have kept years and years worth of them for reference sake. But which of the following have I collected since 1998 and have I not been able to part with?

a. Martha Stewart Living magazines
b. Pottery Barn catalogs
c. Southern Living magazines
d. Crate & Barrel catalogs

fondue, anyone?

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

ANYONE?  I’m in need of a great cheese fondue recipe.  I’ve just been grabbing them off recipe sites, and the most recent one I tried, FLOPPED.  Any foolproof cheese fondue recipes would be greatly appreciated.

got holiday music?

Friday, December 7th, 2007

If the answer is no, check this out.

Login (it’s free) and begin creating your own customizable music stations.  Search for “Jingle Bells” and choose your favorite artist from the list, and voila!  You’ve got yourself a holiday station.  Up to your ears in carols this year?  Try your favorite artist, instead.  The program chooses music with similar characteristics and just like that, you’ve got 80′s pop.

making a list…

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

…and checking it twice…

I have a list for everything. My life is organized by lists and more lists. Currently, I have the following lists:

Ongoing Shopping (Groceries) List
Wish List
Christmas Shopping List
To Do/Make/Bake List (pre-Christmas)
To Do/Make/Bake List (post-Christmas)
Packing List, No. 1
Packing List, No. 2
Freezer Food List

So, you can imagine with all those lists, it feels damn good to scratch off items. Today, I marked off the following:

- Take package to ship.
- Bake date nut bread.
- Figure out how to get iChat video to work (thanks to Matt).
- Vacuum carpet and stairs.
- Hide extension cords from holiday lighting.
- Shovel sidewalk.
- Get the car’s oil changed.
- Pick up dry cleaning.
- Make vegetable beef soup.
- Print off directions.
- Order parchment paper.
- Order replacement fireplace glass and install.  (Okay, Matt gets credit for the installation part tonight, I just ordered it.)

man cold

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

I am posting this because it’s funny. However it doesn’t accurately depict what goes on in our house during cold season. Matt would never dial 999. And he doesn’t have an accent.
